Wellings No.5: A Unique Approach to Retail Pharmacy Design

Chaos Design Studio's Holistic Healing project reimagines the traditional concept of a pharmacy by infusing a heritage touch into the design. Nestled in a heritage zone, the pharmacy retains the elements of the existing building, utilizing three arches to create more openings and demonstrate permeability between retail spaces. The playful and light forms, materials, and colors create a cheerful ambiance, deviating from the rigid traditional pharmacy design.

The innovative approach of Holistic Healing aims to provide consumers with an enjoyable and leisurely experience while visiting the pharmacy. By incorporating a cheerful ambiance, the design motivates consumers to prioritize their physical and mental health, offering a unique and welcoming environment for wellness.

The project, which commenced in May 2019 and was completed in February 2020, is located at 294, Macalister Road, George Town, Penang, Malaysia. The design team, led by Charles Khor, Serena Foo, and Ng Ke Quan, carefully considered the flow of the pharmacy, space allocation, and the hierarchy of different functions to create a cohesive and inclusive environment.
