Revolutionizing After-School Care with "After School" by Creative Group

Designed by Tsung-Ju Lu and Lin Tsai-Wen, "After School" is a pioneering project that reimagines after-school care for elementary students. The concept was inspired by the challenges faced by working parents in caring for their children after school. By creating a shared residential space, the project aims to provide a safe and engaging environment for kids, while also allowing parents to balance their professional and family responsibilities.

Utilizing innovative design elements such as treehouse-like ceilings, open spaces, and large curtain glass windows that bring the outdoors inside, "After School" offers a one-of-a-kind after-school experience. The space is designed to host a variety of activities, including cooking, pottery, picture book reading, painting, and exercise, providing children with a holistic learning experience beyond traditional academics.

With a focus on safety and creativity, the design incorporates high-transparent and reflective materials to eliminate dangerous corners, as well as different floor-level heights to define spaces and enhance the overall experience. The project also encourages parent involvement, with various courses designed and managed by parents with diverse skills and interests, fostering a sense of community and mutual support.

The "After School" project was realized in Taipei, Taiwan, between 2018 and 2019, with a deep understanding of the societal challenges faced by families. By providing a space for children to engage in enriching activities and for parents to connect and collaborate, "After School" represents a significant step towards redefining after-school care.

Elen, the visionary behind Creative Group, has over 17 years of experience in interior decoration and has led the team to numerous accolades, including the prestigious A' Design Award. The "After School" project was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in 2020, recognizing its outstanding innovation and commitment to excellence.
