Newhengdian Station by Miaoyi Jiang

Miaoyi Jiang, an esteemed Senior Engineer and Interior Architect, has unveiled the Newhengdian Station, a modern transportation hub that seamlessly integrates modern design with traditional Chinese cultural elements. Situated in Dongyang, the 45000 square meter project commenced in August 2020 and is set to be completed by August 2022.

The station's design is rooted in the concept of "integration into the city, vertical penetration, and context inheritance." It harmonizes with the traditional urban spatial scale of Dongyang, employing a strip volume to echo the railway streamline, creating a building that is both modern and in harmony with its surroundings.

The station's square and stable overall style, combined with the use of vertical elements and wood carving skills, pays homage to Dongyang's architectural heritage, shaping a new living room for the city. The building's facade features whole glass, providing an intuitive and flexible commercial display for merchants.

One of the notable design challenges overcome was the ceiling's use of composite metal lines and wood carving patterns, creating a sense of infinite space and maximizing visual guidance. The waiting hall, designed to be the first and final impression of the city for tourists, reflects the integrity and regionality of the building, with warm wood tones and traditional Chinese cultural elements.

Miaoyi Jiang's Newhengdian Station has been recognized with the Bronze A' Design Award in 2022, a testament to its outstanding and creatively ingenious design that authentically integrates experience and resourcefulness. The station is poised to become a modern comprehensive transportation space, seamlessly blending efficiency, convenience, and the cultural characteristics of Dongyang.
