Award-winning designer Yi-Ling Syu transforms a presold house into a modern living space centered around the kitchen, promoting family interaction and eco-friendly elements.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Renowned designer Yi-Ling Syu has unveiled "The Experiment," a groundbreaking residential project that redefines modern living spaces. The design focuses on creating a more suitable residence for modern citizens by centering the living space around the kitchen, utilizing natural and eco-friendly elements, and employing multi-layered elevation materials.
Unlike traditional interiors, the project features hidden divisions and hallways surrounding an open-end kitchen, promoting transparency and accessibility. The innovative use of space allows for increased family interaction, with an IH stove installed on the kitchen island, enabling users to engage with the surrounding environment while cooking.
The project, completed in June 2020 in New Taipei City, Taiwan, received the prestigious Iron A' Design Award in 2022 for its practical and innovative approach to interior space design. The design's unique features include machine-cut island-themed wooden floorings, concrete paints, LED lights, glass plates, baked glass, and hotfix laminate hard plastic sheets.
Yi-Ling Syu's meticulous attention to detail is evident in the design's technical specifications, which transformed the original kitchen into a storage room and repurposed the initial bathroom into an open-end kitchen. The absence of partitions or walls between the living room and the master bedroom further enhances the spatial transformation, creating a seamless living experience.
The Experiment's innovative approach to design challenges, such as managing cooking smells and creating a visually appealing environment, showcases Yi-Ling Syu's commitment to creating functional and aesthetically pleasing spaces. The use of anti-dizzy glass television walls, grey-white materials, and machine-cut island-themed wooden floorings demonstrates the designer's dedication to integrating nature and modernity.
With its focus on eco-friendly elements, centralized storage, and natural lighting, "The Experiment" by Yi-Ling Syu stands as a testament to innovative residential design, offering a glimpse into the future of modern living spaces.
