Yi-Ling Syu's "Childhood" design project, completed in July 2020 in New Taipei City, Taiwan, brings back the memories of childhood in a modern residential setting, combining vintage elements with modern functionality.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The "Childhood" project by Yi-Ling Syu is a unique residential design that aims to recapture the nostalgic memories of childhood in a modern living space. Unlike the trending Northern European or industrial styles, this project features terrazzo and stone materials on the primary facades, complemented by wooden furniture and decorations to create a vintage-like environment.
The back wall of the entryway is made of Italian handmade terrazzo and is equipped with solid wooden supports to store and display the clients' bikes, creating a separation between the interior and the outdoor space. The facade effectively allows the user to fix or clean the bikes in the area, adding a distinctive touch to the design.
Realized using Italian terrazzo, artistic paints, hardware, tiles, iron, steel, elmwood, white-painted wood, and yarn, the 36-ping project features four bedrooms, two living rooms, and two bathrooms. The original walls from another household on the same floor are creatively used to partition the kitchen and the entryway, while the facade between the entrance and the living room creates an independent yet interconnected space, offering a unique living experience.
The "Childhood" design project is characterized by its emphasis on natural lighting, cathedral ceilings, a kitchen island, and high durability, offering a safe and unrestricted living environment for the clients' three young sons and a dog. The project was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2022, recognizing its well-designed, practical, and innovative features that meet professional and industrial requirements.
Mowei Interior Design, based in Taipei City, Taiwan, is the creative force behind this exceptional residential project, showcasing Yi-Ling Syu's talent and dedication to creating spaces that evoke a sense of nostalgia while embracing modern functionality.
