Bali Dawn: Breaking Limits and Embracing Natural Light

Benson Wu's Bali Dawn is a groundbreaking residential apartment design that redefines urban living. The project, located in Taiwan and completed in 2020, introduces a new layout that breaks free from conventional constraints, offering direct sunlight to a previously dim and narrow space. The design seamlessly blends easy moving lines, optimizes spatial utility, and creates an urban resort ambiance, setting it apart from traditional apartment layouts.

One of the unique features of Bali Dawn is the extension of the balcony, which incorporates a glass box to showcase plants and the bathroom, effectively bringing the outdoors inside. The use of large French windows floods the interior with ample natural light, while the removal of rigid partitions between the living room and dining kitchen enhances the sense of openness and fluidity.

Wu's emphasis on direct sunlight is evident throughout the design, as both ends of the narrow interior are opened up to maximize natural lighting. The multifunctional balcony serves as a view, bathroom, toilet, and laundry area, offering a versatile and airy space. Additionally, the use of open moving lines and rearranged furniture optimizes spatial utility, creating a sense of freedom and sophistication.

Furthermore, the design incorporates advanced technology to enhance the living experience. A rotating glass door in the bedroom acts as a flexible partition, providing privacy while allowing ample sunlight to permeate the interior. The careful consideration of direct sunlight creates diverse visual effects in different areas of the apartment, seamlessly blending natural and modern elements.
