Wei Tong Chen Transforms a 40-Year-Old House into a Modern Sanctuary
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Renowned designer Wei Tong Chen has successfully transformed a 40-year-old house into a modern sanctuary, Nature Meishan, located in Chiayi, Taiwan. The project, completed in April 2019, focuses on the coexistence of architecture and the environment, creating a space that embraces both life and nature while minimizing the layout and structure.
Using the existing structure as a base, the renovation aimed to bring guests closer to nature, with the height difference of the windows allowing more natural light to brighten the living space. The design features a combination of rustic concrete, wooden furniture, and an increased number of French windows, creating a space for the heart to communicate with the environment.
The project, winner of the Iron A' Design Award in 2020, showcases a minimalistic structure that encourages a dialogue with nature and offers a new life for old buildings. The design team's innovative approach has revitalized the space, providing a tranquil setting for guests to immerse themselves in the beauty of the natural surroundings.
