FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Located in Merida, Yucatan's Historic Center, Casa Lupita is a remarkable residential house that seamlessly blends colonial and contemporary architecture. The project involved the restoration of a nineteenth-century casona, integrating traditional building methods with modern technologies. The restoration process included architectural, interior, furniture, and landscape design, creating a unique and visually stunning living space.
The restoration of Casa Lupita was a meticulous process, involving in-depth research of traditional building methods and materials. The project faced significant challenges due to the heritage status of the original structure, requiring adherence to specific norms and guidelines. The result is a breathtaking tribute to the classic colonial architecture of Merida, Mexico, injecting new life into a historic site that was previously in disuse.
Maya Ruz, along with the design team members Raquel Rodriguez, Carlos Sarzo, and Daniel Moguel, successfully overcame the technical and creative challenges presented by the project. The design received the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in 2020, recognizing its outstanding expertise, innovation, and remarkable level of excellence in blending traditional and modern architectural elements.
