The Fusion of Cultural Arts and Commercial Facility in Nanjing, China
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The DEJI Cultural Complex, designed by Masato Kure, is a groundbreaking fusion of cultural arts and commercial facility, spanning 7300m2 in Nanjing, China. The complex offers an innovative and inviting ambiance, eliminating boundaries between inside and outside, reflecting the culture, people, and the city of Nanjing.
DEJI Cultural Complex features six extensive facilities, including an art museum, a museum, a bookstore, shops, and a cafe, providing visitors with a unique and immersive experience.
The design innovation lies in the elimination of walls between spaces, creating a seamless and inviting environment. Large water basins and countless white rods hanging from the ceiling replace traditional walls, offering visitors a preview of the space before entering.
The project, which commenced in January 2021, was completed in February 2022, overcoming the challenges posed by the changing retail landscape due to the pandemic. The design has been recognized with the prestigious Platinum A' Design Award in 2023, showcasing its exceptional innovation and contribution to societal wellbeing.
