Li-Yu Cheng's Museumism project, a residential interior design, is a harmonious blend of physics-inspired spatial forms and minimalistic aesthetics, completed in Taipei city in November 2021.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Li-Yu Cheng's Museumism project is a testament to the fusion of physics-inspired spatial forms and minimalistic aesthetics. With a focus on the rotational equivalent of linear force, the design embodies the concept of "moment" in physics, shaping the spatial topology with artistic and emotional appeals.
The interior design project stands out for its avoidance of overtly designing, sustaining a strong and minimalistic identity. By delving into the science of physics and employing subtraction design approaches, the project successfully moderates the contradiction between austerity and extravagance, culminating in artistic and emotional appeals.
Spanning 244 square meters, the layout comprises a harmonious proportion of 50% shared area and 50% private rooms. The design features low saturate colors without decorative cladding, with curvy and smooth continuous surfaces defining spatial identity while providing aesthetic and subdivision functions.
The layout includes two separate living areas, offering flexibility to residents and forming a consecutive dynamic rhythm with artistic and pragmatic intentions. The sunroom adjoins the dining island continuously in a minimal form, ensuring each resident has an open space to relax.
Despite the seemingly effortless free forms and organic shapes, the execution of the design required meticulous calculation and experienced craftsmanship to overcome every joint.
Li-Yu Cheng's Museumism project was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in 2022, recognizing its outstanding and creatively ingenious design that authenticates experience and resourcefulness.
