Makoto Furihata's Hillside Residence: A Nostalgic Japanese Home
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Makoto Furihata, an award-winning architect, has designed the Hillside Residence, a nostalgic Japanese home that captures the essence of traditional architecture while offering modern comfort and functionality. Situated in Machida city, Tokyo, Japan, this elegant two-story wooden house with a reinforced concrete basement floor stands on a 672.48 square meter site, offering a breathtaking view of the famous Tanzawasan mountain.
The project, which commenced in January 2011 and concluded in July 2012, presented unique challenges due to the steep slope of the site. Furihata's innovative approach involved creating an underground parking lot that also serves as retaining, allowing for the construction of the wooden house above. The use of traditional construction finishing materials adds to the nostalgic ambiance, providing the client with a sense of familiarity and comfort.
Furihata's design philosophy emphasizes the harmonization of architecture with the surrounding climate, drawing inspiration from traditional Japanese architecture. The Hillside Residence not only offers a relaxing and comfortable living space but also serves as a testament to Furihata's commitment to preserving and evolving the essence of Japanese architectural heritage.
