Rui Fu: A Zen-inspired Villa Designed by Guoqiang Feng and Yan Chen
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Guoqiang Feng and Yan Chen have unveiled their latest project, Rui Fu, a Zen-inspired villa located on the outskirts of Beijing. The design draws inspiration from Zen concepts of Rupa and Sunyata, creating a quiet and comfortable family space for spiritual nourishment.
The villa spans 1,600 square meters across four floors, with a 700 square meter back garden, and features a unique layout that promotes spatial flow and connectivity. The interior design utilizes a white tone and natural transition techniques to eliminate spatial boundaries, while Italian white resin paint is used for the floor, wall, and ceiling surfaces.
The design team overcame challenges such as the lack of natural lighting in the basement by incorporating skylights and extending floor-to-ceiling windows, enhancing interaction between interior spaces. The layout allows for private and family spaces, catering to various needs within the household.
Initiated in November 2019 and completed in January 2021, Rui Fu embodies the fusion of Eastern and Western cultures, incorporating elements of nature and art to create a peaceful, contemporary living environment. Feng and Chen Partners Design Shanghai, founded by Guoqiang Feng and Yan Chen in 2001, aims to convey love, truth, and beauty through their designs, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a pure childlike innocence.
