My Smoking Jackets Residential House by Ya-Jung HSIEH

Ya-Jung HSIEH's My Smoking Jackets is a unique residential house designed for a fashion designer's home, combining a studio working area with an apartment in a loft style. The design features a concept of volume stacking to create a small space that encompasses a working area, living area, and public area. The main volume, raised in the living room, serves as a buffer between the working and living areas, allowing natural light to disperse throughout the space.

The design's unique properties include a half-penetrating space design that separates public and private areas, a hall design that combines the living room and indoor balcony to amplify natural light and space, and a flexible allocation of living areas according to working hours. The project was realized in December 2017 in New Taipei City, Taiwan, and incorporates eco-friendly materials such as gray glass, gray mirrors, wood veneer, and steel elements.

My Smoking Jackets, with its emphasis on loft living in a small space, showcases the designer's creativity and resourcefulness, earning Ya-Jung HSIEH the prestigious Bronze A' Design Award in 2021. The design's innovative approach to combining work and family spaces in a compact setting has been recognized for its technical and creative excellence, contributing to improvements in quality of life.
