Award-winning designer TZU CHENG HUANG unveils Villa Time, a captivating residential project in Miaoli, Taiwan
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
TZU CHENG HUANG introduces Villa Time, a stunning residential project located in the serene countryside of Miaoli, Taiwan. This two-story, 230m2 home with an outdoor courtyard and garage is designed to accommodate three generations of family members, offering a seamless blend of modern aesthetics and functional living space.
The design incorporates a dynamic element that begins at the entryway, using dark materials to add a touch of intrigue. As it extends into the interior, it emphasizes the room's spaciousness. The open layout of the living room and dining room encourages easy entertaining, allowing homeowners to host gatherings with ease. Interaction between these spaces, including the kitchen, promotes a seamless flow throughout the home.
The project, which commenced in September 2022 and concluded in February 2023, was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in 2024, recognizing its outstanding creativity and ingenious design that enhances the quality of life.
The moving line enters from the entryway, with the dark materials to create a sense of mystery. Passing through the front of the space, it comes to the interior to highlight the width of the space. The living room and dining room are open to each other, and the use of the two areas is closely linked to facilitate the house owner to entertain their relatives and friends. The living room, dining room and even kitchen can be interactive and maintain a sense of flow.
The entryway first attracts the vision of the guests. The facade and ceiling with black wood texture create a sense of mystery, which sets off the texture of black wood floor and main visual stone skin coating. The warm lien light and partial embellishment of bright orange cabinet enrich the layers of texture.
It is a two-story house with a 230m2 outdoor courtyard and garage. Each floor has 165m2. It is for three generations of family members, including the owner couple, owner's brother and his wife, children and his elderly father. On the first floor, there are the entryway, living room, dining room, fitness room, study, kitchen, two bathrooms and a parent room. On the second floor, there are bedrooms and bathrooms for two couples and children.
When talking with the house owner, the designer can feel his grace and mind of entrepreneurship, and the calm bearing performance is the focus of this space design. The entryway represents the initial impression, and the bold use of black wood texture can set off the magnificent bearing of stone skin coating; after entering the large public space, the designer chooses not to cut off any connection and exchange, with the extension of material to connect the large space.
The most special interior construction method is the application of stone skin paint at the entryway, which technically tests the aesthetic perception of the paint master. In the process, it must communicate with the house owner constantly on the scene to outline a satisfactory image. The paint must firstly be applied layer by layer to the wall, stacking to create certain thickness, then slowly carving out the rock's bearing, and finally painting the layers of texture.
The overall space configuration has undergone several changes. At the beginning, the house owner wanted the dining room to be adjacent to the kitchen, and wanted to place a 10-person round table that could accommodate the whole family. However, such configuration would compress the space of art gallery, making it inconvenient to use. Finally, it decided that the dining room should be arranged at the side of kitchen.
