Chia Hsin Chi, Yunz Interior Design presents "A Serene Hideaway," a modern minimalist Zen Japanese style residence designed for a couple seeking a private retreat in the heart of the city. The project, completed at the end of 2018 near Houshanpi MRT Station in Taipei City, seamlessly blends industrial and Japanese Zen styles to create a unique living space that reflects the clients' love for Japanese aesthetics and the need for a tranquil escape from their busy urban lives.
The design team meticulously incorporated the husband and wife's preferences for Japanese Zen style, using industrial elements in a subtle manner to achieve a modern minimalist Zen Japanese style residence. The highlight of the space is the intricately designed ceiling, crafted from scented cypress wood, creating a three-dimensional Japanese window frame effect that captivates the viewer. The use of gray Pandomo flooring with minimal division lines complements the high ceiling space, while black iron plates add a touch of industrial flair, seamlessly integrating with the gentle Zen style to create a stylish new French industrial residence.
One of the key features of "A Serene Hideaway" is the sustainable and waste-free design approach. The design team maximized the utilization of materials by repurposing the remaining cypress wooden veneer from the ceiling to create the Japanese room's cabinet surface, showcasing a comprehensive and environmentally conscious design.
The project, winner of the Bronze A' Design Award in 2021, exemplifies outstanding and creatively ingenious design, incorporating best practices in art, science, design, and technology to enhance the quality of life and make the world a better place.
