Snow Park, designed by Kris Lin International Design, stands as the centerpiece of the world's largest indoor ski resort in Shenzhen, completed in January 2025. Drawing inspiration from a Chinese explorer's glacier expedition, the exhibition center offers visitors a journey through six immersive scenes-Ice Lake, Ice Tunnel, Ice Cave, Ice Light, Ice Cone, and Ice House-creating a documentary-like adventure that fuses natural exploration with modern design. The project aims to establish a landmark that not only celebrates ice and snow culture but also serves as a catalyst for the growth of tourism and commercial activity in southern China.
The design distinguishes itself through its use of advanced materials and interactive technologies. Glass Fiber Reinforced Gypsum (GFRG) forms the flowing walls and ribbon-style light fixtures, replicating the delicate textures of snow and glaciers while ensuring sustainability and durability. Ice Jade Stone, featured in the tunnel area, enhances the ambiance with its translucent quality, echoing the essence of ice and snow. Holographic projections, LED screens, and dynamic lighting create a multi-sensory, immersive environment, allowing visitors to interact with snow-themed content and experience layered sensory encounters throughout the exhibition.
Overcoming significant design challenges, including integrating 36 structural columns and irregular basement ceilings, the team utilized streamlined layouts and lighting to minimize visual obstacles and maximize spatial impact. The flexible layout ensures a seamless transition from exhibition center to future commercial use, providing enduring economic and operational value. Snow Park not only advances the boundaries of spatial design by merging natural elements with futuristic concepts but also raises public awareness about glacier protection and climate change, promoting sustainable development. The project's innovative approach and societal impact were recognized with the Platinum A' Design Award in 2025.
