Eclipse: Award-Winning Residential Interior Design Fusing Emotion, Function, and Sustainability

"Eclipse," designed by Chen Yu Chiu and completed in March 2023 in Taoyuan City, Taiwan, stands out as a testament to the power of design to evoke emotion and foster connection. Inspired by the interplay of light and the enduring bonds of family, the project draws on the symbolism of the rising moon and steadfast sun to create an environment that is both warm and resilient. The design features soft curves, natural light, and carefully selected textures, resulting in a space that balances modern elegance with heartfelt inspiration.

At the heart of "Eclipse" is the innovative "Sun & Moon" concept, which uses layered lighting and flowing forms to minimize the visual impact of structural columns and enhance spatial harmony. The residence, spanning approximately 115 square meters, is meticulously crafted with a refined palette of wood, stone, and metal finishes. Concealed doors, precise linear detailing, and custom modular components ensure seamless transitions between public and private zones, supporting both family interaction and individual retreat. The integration of sustainable materials and advanced production techniques underscores the project's commitment to environmental responsibility.

The realization of "Eclipse" involved overcoming significant design and technical challenges, including strict building codes, limited material options, and the need to preserve both artistic integrity and functional requirements. Through extensive research and iterative problem-solving, the team achieved a design that not only meets the diverse needs of its residents but also exemplifies innovative craftsmanship and technical expertise.
