Wan-Ting Hung's "Peach Blossom" residence has been recognized with a Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category for 2025, celebrating its innovative approach to retirement living. Located in Taiwan and completed in 2021, the 109-square-meter home transforms daily life into an immersive art experience, drawing inspiration from the idyllic "The Peach Blossom Spring" and the peony paintings of Yun Shouping. Each area of the home is envisioned as a journey along a river, with changing vistas and artful installations that blend tradition and modernity.
The residence's standout features include a mountain-shaped ceiling in the living room, a hand-assembled peony art piece crafted from over 70 panels and four materials, and a dining area with thin tiles and gold-leaf sconces that evoke the cosmos. The design employs a sophisticated mix of materials-marble, granite, cypress wood, titanium gold, and imported tiles-creating a dynamic interplay of textures and light. Special attention is given to the needs of retirement living, with an expanded kitchen for ease of use, a gentleman's cigar room with private access, and a master bathroom adorned with gold leaf and crystal glass for a touch of opulence.
Hung's design philosophy merges the homeowner's passion for art with meticulous craftsmanship, resulting in a space where every wall becomes a canvas and every corner invites contemplation. The patchwork of materials, layered installations, and thoughtful lighting not only overcome technical challenges but also elevate the home into a personal art gallery. The project's recognition at the A' Design Awards highlights its contribution to quality of life and its role in redefining residential spaces as places of beauty, comfort, and cultural expression.
