Szhk Science and Technology Project by Aedas

Aedas, a global architecture and design practice, has unveiled the Szhk Science and Technology Project, a groundbreaking high-rise office development set to redefine the urban landscape in Shenzhen, China. The 250m main building draws inspiration from the Chinese parasol tree, reflecting the concept of hospitality and shared prosperity between the two cities.

This innovative project is designed to serve as an important R&D exchange area and a gateway between Shenzhen and Hong Kong, creating a central hub in the Science and Technology Innovation Zone with international exchanges and regional integration. It aims to establish a 24-hour living circle that includes living, leisure, and working spaces, along with special activity nodes such as a community health center, treehouse bookshop, game center, and art center.

The design incorporates sustainable features such as a natural ventilation system, perforated aluminum board for CO2 reduction, and roofing materials with high SRT values to minimize urban heat island effect. Additionally, the project integrates energy-saving elements such as rooftop solar hot water systems and the use of daylight through glazed façades and skylights to reduce the need for artificial lighting.

Leading the design team are Aedas' Global Design Principal, Leo Liu, and Founder & Global Principal Designer, Keith Griffiths. The project is a winner of the prestigious Golden A' Design Award in Architecture, Building, and Structure Design in 2023, recognizing its outstanding and trendsetting design.
