Arthur Yang's cutting-edge design for YY Sports' new fitness club in Shenyang, China, reimagines the concept of a gym in the post-human era, integrating technology and artificial elements to create a unique fitness experience.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
YY Sports, a leading sportswear enterprise, has unveiled a groundbreaking fitness club designed by Arthur Yang in Shenyang, China. The 2000 m2 fitness club is situated on the top floor of the city's most prosperous commercial street, offering a futuristic and immersive workout environment.
The design draws inspiration from the postmodern era, combining modern science and technology with the latest concepts and aesthetic consciousness to create a space that challenges traditional notions of fitness. The gym is envisioned as a hub for "artificial man" transformation, featuring stainless steel, glass, artificial wood, fire flame retardant cloth, fire flame retardant rock cotton, immersive LED screens, and terrazzo to realize the post-human aesthetic.
Accurately investigating the site, the design team utilized computer 3D modeling to ensure the practical operability of the space, overcoming the challenge of making the post-human elements look real. The project, which was completed from February 2021 to May 2021, represents a fusion of art, science, design, and technology, earning it the Bronze A' Design Award in 2022 for Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design.
