Matsuo Matsuo's Gallege is an open and impressive residential house, completed in Hyogo, Japan in November 2020, featuring a unique wooden structure and large windows that connect the interior with the urban surroundings.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Gallege stands out as a remarkable residential house designed by Michihiro Matsuo, featuring an open and impressive structure with three hobby cars parked on a small urban site. The design focuses on creating a large, open space with a wooden structure and a series of horizontally arranged windows, forming a beautifully balanced facade that seamlessly integrates with the urban environment.
The construction of this open house required complex and daring spatial configuration, ensuring structural strength and earthquake resistance. The use of large-section laminated wood and metal joints, along with meticulous structural analysis, contributed to the safe and secure realization of this unique design.
With a focus on privacy and openness, Gallege offers a living space located on the second floor and above, carefully designed to avoid intersecting with the line of sight of passers-by. The project was realized in collaboration with Advance Architects, Inc., showcasing a harmonious balance between urban living and architectural elegance.
Matsuo's commitment to quality and functionality is evident in Gallege, as the design not only redefines urban living but also contributes to low carbonization through its innovative use of wooden structures. The project was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in 2021, recognizing its outstanding creativity and contribution to improving the quality of life.
