Square: A New Frontier in Learning and Teaching

Evolution Design, in collaboration with renowned architect Sou Fujimoto, unveils "Square," a groundbreaking learning center at the University of St. Gallen. The innovative space is designed to facilitate new forms of learning and teaching, promoting experimentation, debate, and dynamic interaction.

Square, spanning 7000 square meters, features open, multifunctional spaces that can be adapted for various learning scenarios, from large group activities to individual work. The interior concept emphasizes unbroken connectivity and spatial versatility, allowing for seamless transitions between different learning environments.

The project, initiated in November 2019, was completed in February 2022, marking a significant milestone in the university's commitment to fostering innovation in education.

Carolin Michalka, Jessica Mentz, Zhiyang Chiu, Patrik Uihlein, Dariusz Florczak, and Stuart Dickens were instrumental in realizing the vision for "Square," overcoming creative and technical challenges to create a vibrant, adaptable learning environment.

The University of St. Gallen's Square is a testament to Evolution Design's commitment to human-centred design solutions, reflecting a synergy of comprehensive research, cutting-edge creativity, and a focus on emotional wellbeing.
