Quzhou Landmark, designed by Xiyao Wang, stands as a new symbol for Quzhou's urban future, merging ancient Eastern philosophies with contemporary architectural practices. Anchored by two striking towers along the Quzhou Station axis, the project redefines the city's skyline while fostering a deep connection between people, culture, and the natural environment. The design draws inspiration from the concept of "Heaven as Courtesy, Earth as Culture," emphasizing harmony between humanity and nature-a principle reflected in every aspect of the project.
What distinguishes Quzhou Landmark is its seamless integration of architecture and landscape. The towers rise from an undulating green base that mirrors Quzhou's distinctive terrain, with green roofs and vertical gardens that enhance environmental comfort and reduce energy consumption. The project's 150-meter-high towers and 34,000 square meters of mixed-use space accommodate offices, retail, and public amenities, all while prioritizing ecological balance and urban livability. The use of concrete and steel structures, combined with advanced vertical greening technology, demonstrates a commitment to both durability and sustainability.
The design process was rooted in extensive research, involving collaboration with local historians, urban planners, and residents to ensure the project honors Quzhou's cultural heritage while meeting modern needs. Challenges included balancing traditional values with contemporary urban requirements, navigating regulatory constraints, and adapting to varied landscapes. Through innovative thinking and adaptability, the team created a landmark that not only celebrates Quzhou's identity but also sets a benchmark for sustainable urban development. The recognition by the A' Design Award underscores the project's creative ingenuity and its positive impact on quality of life.
