Architect Tetsuya Matsumoto Unveils the Cloud of Luster Wedding Chapel in Himeji City
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Architect Tetsuya Matsumoto introduces the Cloud of Luster, a contemporary wedding chapel in Himeji City, Japan. Inspired by the modern wedding ceremonies in Japan, the design embodies lightness, brightness, and a smooth transition towards a happy future family life. The chapel's unique cloud-shaped structure, enveloped in curved glass, creates a minimalistic, open space that allows natural light to fill the interior, symbolizing the brightness of the couple's future.
The Cloud of Luster is a wedding chapel designed to translate the contemporary wedding spirit into physical space. The chapel, part of a wedding ceremony hall, features a minimalistic, all-white design with a ceiling free of technical equipment, supported by round columns with hyperbolic cone heads. The interior space is open to the garden and an outside basin, creating a serene and bright atmosphere.
The chapel is supported by a metallic frame structure, with reinforced concrete foundations and hyperbolic bases. The white elements are finished in an organic material called Joly-Pat, produced by AICA, while the floor is covered in glass beads coated in resin. The curved glass, 10mm thick, is supported by double 19mm thick clear glass fins.
With a gross built area of 245sqm, the Cloud of Luster stands at W33325mm x D15673mm x H5240mm, offering a unique and spacious environment for wedding ceremonies.
The Cloud of Luster Chapel is a testament to Tetsuya Matsumoto's dedication to materializing the spirit of wedding days into physical space. The design overcomes the challenge of creating a space that embodies the modern wedding spirit without overwhelming decorations, offering a serene and memorable environment for couples.
