Discover the Essence of Being in Taoism-Inspired Residential Project
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Studio One proudly presents Essence of Void, a residential project by Tzu-Jou Chou that embodies the essence of Taoism, focusing on the dialogue between objects and nature. This project introduces a new approach to interior design, emphasizing simplicity, sophistication, and the true aesthetic value of being.
The project, completed in September 2020 in Taipei City, Taiwan, covers an area of 75.9 sq. m2, featuring a foyer, living room, dining room, two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a kitchen. The design inspiration was derived from the concept of Taoism, aiming to reduce artificial interference and worship the relationship between objects and nature.
Essence of Void stands out with its sophisticated forms, monochrome scheme, and textured materials, reflecting the concept of void-essence in simplicity. The project maximizes space possibilities and flexibilities, defining each zone and traffic flow in an open plan while creating a serene environment with natural materials such as mineral paint, wood, and concrete flooring.
For this project, Studio One removed unnecessary architectural walls, applied gray mineral paint onto walls, and introduced concrete epoxy for flooring. The design also features an arch form for the hallway, curved lines for the recessed ceiling, a black wood island with a metal structure, and stone-liked cabinets with pleating and line details. The materials were selected based on their natural traits and textures, aiming to convey warmth and visual texture in the place.
Studio One, specializing in interior architectural design, believes in the philosophy of "less is more," emphasizing the avoidance of overused decorations and focusing on interior forms and their relationship with the environment. The firm's core design philosophy centers around creating aesthetic value and solutions towards better living.
