Oval Design Limited Unveils Gateway To Future Exhibition

Oval Design Limited has unveiled an immersive outdoor exhibition, Gateway To Future, at Edinburgh Place in Hong Kong. The exhibition, which commenced on 6th July 2022 and concluded on 30th November 2022, aimed to intertwine physical and virtual experiences to create an immersive environment for visitors. The exhibition showcased the most outstanding developments of the sea, land, and air transport infrastructures, positioning Hong Kong as a world city of Asia.

The exhibition was designed to facilitate a unique experience where visitors could play a hybrid chess board game on their mobile devices and physically interact with the installation. This innovative approach aimed to engage visitors of all ages and create a captivating environment in the central business district of Hong Kong.

The design team at Oval Design Limited integrated factual information with gaming elements, creating bespoke online mobile games for visitors to play and experience. The exhibition covered approximately 500 square meters and featured EPDM, a recycled rubber material commonly found in playgrounds, as the dominant flooring material. This choice not only created a playful and leisurely atmosphere but also aligned with environmental sustainability, as highlighted in the report "Building for the Future" from Greenpeace.

Gateway To Future successfully presented a vast amount of hard facts in a subtle, fun, and interactive manner, without overwhelming the public. The exhibition's content was translated into simple line graphics and fun facts, embedded into physical platforms, and presented through a mobile game with lively animation and mini-games.

Oval Design Limited's exhibition was awarded the prestigious Golden A' Design Award in the Event and Happening Design category in 2023, recognizing the exceptional creativity and impact of the project. The team's dedication to reshaping perceptions of possibility and delivering projects with passion and impeccable execution has solidified their position as a leading creative agency in spatial design and production.
