Design Action Unveils "Gravity" - A Groundbreaking Cinema Design Project

Design Action is proud to present "Gravity," a revolutionary cinema design project conceptualized by the renowned Creative Director, Vincent Li, and designer Mancy Li. Inspired by Einstein's theory of "General Relativity," this avant-garde design redefines the cinema experience by capturing the essence of gravity at its extreme.

Spanning 2800 Sq.m, "Gravity" is a testament to innovation and creativity, transforming the former airport in Shanghai, China, into a captivating space that evokes a sense of weightlessness and wonder. The design concept directly influences the layout and shape of the space, creating a unique and cinematic experience for movie enthusiasts.

The design's unique properties are evident in the white ceiling swirl that mimics the formation of a black hole, guiding particles to create a stacked light cove from low to high. The walls are adorned with flowing lines, combining gold and silver accents, reminiscent of rolled up leaves in a distorted space, adding a touch of elegance and intrigue to the environment.

Utilizing stone, acoustic panels, plastic laminate, carpet, and gypsum board, the design realization technology brings the vision of "Gravity" to life, offering a seamless blend of form and function that sets it apart from traditional cinema designs.

Overcoming creative and technical challenges, the design team meticulously crafted the spiral ceiling design, which intricately influences the floor, space planning, and wall light trough design. The dynamic vortices were extensively studied through various models, resulting in a mesmerizing and harmonious spatial experience.

Recognized for its exceptional innovation and expertise, "Gravity" was awarded the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in 2021, solidifying its status as a top-of-the-line and creatively remarkable design that captivates with its technical prowess and artistic finesse.
