Hsin Ting Weng's "Counterpoint Poetry," a countryside residence blending Chinese tradition and modern sensibility, has earned the Bronze A' Design Award 2025 in Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design, recognizing its creative integration of Feng Shui, layered spatial narratives, and harmonious material palettes in Changhua City, Taiwan.

"Counterpoint Poetry," designed by Hsin Ting Weng, stands as a testament to the harmonious coexistence of rationality and sensibility in interior design. Completed in November 2022 in Changhua City, Taiwan, the project revitalizes a 1980s countryside residence for a second-generation homeowner returning to agricultural roots. Drawing inspiration from architect Wang Da-hung's fusion of Western and Chinese traditions, Weng employs earthy browns, emerald greens, and golden accents to evoke the fruitfulness of the land and the unity of family enterprise. The design's three-section compound structure, influenced by the Mandala Chart and traditional courtyard house layouts, creates a dynamic interplay of order and organic flow.
Unique to this project is the careful integration of Feng Shui principles and practical living needs. The master bedroom, intentionally separated from the walk-in closet and bathroom, prioritizes tranquility and rest, while a dedicated computer room offers a space for work and relaxation. The central living area, adorned with emerald green walls and cascading golden leaves, serves as the core gathering space, enveloped by storage units that both conceal clutter and guide movement through the home. Marble veining and layered textures further enhance the sense of depth and narrative, reflecting the elegance of Chinese spatial storytelling.
Overcoming challenges posed by existing plumbing and spatial restrictions, Weng meticulously positioned walls and circulation paths to maintain the integrity of the nine-square grid pattern and optimize the flow of energy. The result is a residence that not only honors the homeowner's heritage but also exemplifies contemporary design excellence. The project's recognition with the Bronze A' Design Award underscores its contribution to quality of life improvements and its role in advancing best practices in art, science, and technology within interior architecture.
