Renowned designer Hsin Ting Weng transforms a dilapidated Taiwanese residential abode into a unique exhibition spatial design, Gallery Crossroad, catering to photography lovers with a blend of modern touches and surreal ambiances.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Hsin Ting Weng, in collaboration with Lexie Tsai, has reimagined the 40-year-old Taiwanese residential abode into a cultural hub for photography enthusiasts, now known as Gallery Crossroad. The name "crossroad" symbolizes the decision-making process akin to the act of pressing a shutter, emphasizing the interpretation of images based on the observer's perspective and self-experience.
The exterior of Gallery Crossroad features a textured checkerboard, infusing modern elements into the aged structure, while the interior boasts a steel wireframe structure that serves both functional and aesthetic purposes, allowing for hanging pieces and visually extending the building's depth.
The gallery area is designed with voids and achromatic color schemes, providing a minimalist backdrop that accentuates the displayed art pieces. The strategic blocking of exterior windows at the storefront ensures an impactful perception for viewers, free from daylighting interruptions.
Constructed over a 60 square meter area, Gallery Crossroad stands as a testament to Weng's astute sensibility to color and multi-material application, showcasing her dedication to blending trendy and classic compositions to achieve aesthetic refinement in interior spaces.
Gallery Crossroad was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in 2021, recognizing its outstanding expertise, innovation, and remarkable level of excellence in interior space, retail, and exhibition design.
