Howard's Gourmet: A Fusion of Classical Chinese and Modern Elegance

Monique Lee's design for Howard's Gourmet, located in Beijing's WF Central, seamlessly blends classical Chinese elements with modern elegance. Inspired by Mr. Howard Cai's culinary philosophy, the restaurant offers a contemporary interpretation of essential Chinese flavors in a modern Chinese style. The design reflects antique Chinese culture in a modern setting, featuring a classic lattice entrance, a grand use of gold, and a layout based on the old Siheyuan concept.

The restaurant's interior is adorned with symbolic elements representing the sky and earth, incorporating the ancient cosmology of the five elements. The use of stainless steel, fabric, and marble stones, along with flexible panels for privacy, showcases the innovative realization technology behind the design. With a site area of 767.5 sq.m, the restaurant provides a luxurious and private dining experience for its esteemed guests.

Despite facing challenges such as the installation of individual washroom facilities in each room and weather-related delays, the project was completed in October 2017. Howard's Gourmet has since been recognized with the prestigious Bronze A' Design Award for Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design in 2019, solidifying Monique Lee's reputation as an exceptional interior design director.
