FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Monique Lee's Kaiseki Den

Monique Lee's Kaiseki Den, located at Shop 3-4, G/F, The Oakhill, 28 Wood Road, Wan Chai, Hong Kong, is a testament to the fusion of culinary art and serene design. The restaurant, completed in May 2017, is a tranquil retreat from the bustling city, offering patrons an immersive experience in Japanese aesthetics and cuisine.

The design of Kaiseki Den draws inspiration from the Japanese Karesansui Landscape, employing Wabi-sabi aesthetics to create a peaceful environment. The use of simple shapes, natural materials, and earthy colors evokes the original state of nature associated with Kaiseki and its Zen philosophy.

Sustainable natural materials, such as coarse marble floors and bamboo bark wallpaper, were meticulously selected to present the original state of nature. The design also incorporates energy-saving LED lighting systems and Wagami light boxes to enhance the visual ambiance while maintaining an environmentally friendly approach.

One of the unique features of Kaiseki Den is its interactive design, allowing diners to engage with the culinary process. The open kitchen and dining counter design enable guests to observe the chefs at work, fostering a sense of connection and transparency.

Despite facing geographical complexities, the design team overcame challenges related to irregular shapes and varying ceiling heights, ultimately creating a harmonious space that exudes tranquility. The result is a seamless integration of form and function, offering a serene dining experience for patrons.

Monique Lee's Kaiseki Den has been recognized with the prestigious Bronze A' Design Award in 2018, affirming its outstanding contribution to interior space, retail, and exhibition design. The restaurant stands as a testament to Lee's dedication to creating spaces that blend inspiration and functionality, offering a tranquil escape for visitors in the heart of Hong Kong.
